Introduction to this Journal


For those of you just joining us:

On August 8, 2006, my younger brother Eric and I took off from Los Angeles on a thirteen-day trip through parts of Europe. We stayed in Dublin, London, Paris, and Rome. From there, he flew home for his senior year of high school, and I flew to Cairo to study Arabic at the American University. I arrived on August 21, 2006, and will stay here until June 2007. This journal is a record of my experiences. See also the Glossary of Terms and People for some Cairene context.
