Apartment Games

We have a new apartment mate. Say hello to Mr. Foosball Table.

Mr. Foosball Table
Max Wallach, Danielle, Colin, and Eric around the foosball table.

Colin has been threatening to buy a foosball table for months now, and he finally made good on his threat a few nights ago. There's a grocery and general store not far from our apartment, called Alpha Market, and Alpha Market carries everything. I buy sheet music there, along with school supplies, socks, rice, mustard, tupperware, and other things I need. In addition to these items, they also carry foosball tables.

Getting the foosball table to the apartment was a feat. We live on the fifteenth floor of our building. We soon discovered that the table was too large to fit in the elevators. The next idea was to carry it up fifteen flights of stairs. Not a grand plan, but possibly necessary. After one flight, we realized that the  table would not survive the stairwell without countless nicks and scratches. That was when Max had the bright idea of finding some tools so as to partially disassemble the table.

Max and some Egyptian workers take apart the foosball table.

Two legs had to come off before the table would fit in the elevator. After that, it was easy to get it in the apartment, and required only a little more setup.

To celebrate the occasion, we had a small, impromptu party. In all, there were about ten of us, taking turns at the foosball table and playing cards. When the night concluded, we agreed that Colin made a wise investment.

Moose!
Colin is part moose.

Later, we played spoons, palace, and Uno (my contribution to the apartment's game collection). We decided not to break out Arabic Scrabble, which, by the way, requires much different strategies than English Scrabble, as word formation is completely different in Arabic. On towards three in the morning, things died down, and Colin finished packing for his trip to the States, where he is now. For now, Danielle and I are in the apartment, and we've made some good use of the kitcken, with casserole and pasta. And once I find a cookie sheet, I'll make some good cookies.

Oh, the glow of a city...
