All Thai'd Up

Posted May 30, 2007

Whoa! I can't believe it's been two months since I wrote for this thing. That interstitial was only supposed to last a couple of weeks, but today is exactly two months to the day since I last updated the site. Sorry to all the regular readers; alas, the real world takes precedence over the need to post pictures on the internet. Here's a sampling of what's gone on in the last two months:

  • I spent a little less than two weeks in Thailand.
  • I saw four pretty cool concerts in Cairo, including an Egyptiain metal band.
  • We threw a Cinco de Mayo party at our apartment.
  • Several friends had birthdays and birthday parties.
  • Other friends had parties that had nothing to do with age.
  • The ALI, getting into the spirit of things, threw an end-of-the-year party.
  • I was asked to perform at the ALI party, so I learned an Arabic song and played it.
  • I spent a weekend in Alexandria with some friends.
  • I called my mom on Mother's Day.
  • Various parts of our apartment broke down and required attention.
  • I took the ALI Unified Exam and six finals, including three for one class.
  • My future was thrown into complete upheaval.
  • I ate uncountable meals with people I may not see for a long time, if ever.
  • Colin's brother came to visit, crashing at our place for a few days.
  • I went to Khan al Khalili (famous large market in Cairo) and actually purchased stuff.
  • I, uh, "dealt with" my rental agent in order to retrieve as much of my security deposit as possible.
  • My rental agent is a bastard and I'm happy I don't have to interact with him anymore.
  • I wrote this on my trans-Atlantic flight from Cairo to New York. That's right, I'm on my way back.

Soon I'll be standing on American soil for the first time in ten months. What was that I wrote last time? Ah, yes. Let's shake a mile. Sounds good to me.

Oh, the glow of a city...
